How do we square Netflix giving a respected but non-blockbuster-making auteur infinite money to make a miniseries with that article on n+1 about how they only want to make the minimum viable pap? Does he see it as a deal with the devil or a fruitful new way to make and distribute moving images? Was there pressure to choose a theme song with English lyrics, to ease the series’s entry into o/s markets? etc. etc.
