- Embed this notice@mav @coleens_ Honestly - because the are bad UX, it's hard to divine all the possible things someone might want CWed, an oral tradition of things that *must* be CWed is unmaintainable and will have false negatives and positives, they discourage the use of the useful tools, and they aren't a default so they are easy to forget, especially on a platform for quick thoughts.
Similarly, they don't federate well, PixelFed isn't gonna CW a picture because that's not how it works. And a theoretical FunkWhale post of the song soundcloud.com/user-310458959/… ain't gonna do it either.
In the end, Mastodon has worse safety tools than twitter, because it puts all its eggs in the CW basket, leaving the Poster to predict all possible harm, rather than advertising and building traditions around blocklists, mutes, filtered words, and more!
