It was a legitimate rule break. All the defenders had to do was reach out a hand and tap Mahomes, but as with the rest of the game, they didn't play with any discipline.

I do agree that I'd take Mahomes head off too in that situation. Any reasonable defender would, but it doesn't change facts.

And even more importantly, that penalty didn't change the game. The Texans played like shit.
