In the UK they would be required to wear PPE provided by the employer and that PPE must be fit for purpose. As for handwashing for the population it would be normal during the covid pandemic to have hand gel in every shop for example, now less so, so the risk is there.

I still carry some with me, and use, Other than useful for my job, it is just good hygiene.

People are going back to their lax, complacent mindset the further covid slips in to history.
