@hacks4pancakes ah with lawyers involved it seems quite serious. In the cases I dealt with (inviting people or myself) I would call to the concerning entity myself.

I would say in any case if it's about you, there should be no issue in calling yourself. Just asking them something like "What is the status?" possibly with the argument "Just checking I did not miss any correspondence from you" sometimes does wonders.
