- Embed this notice@sun its, i think, the worst possible move from the PoV of the US government. wasted resources on what will effectively increase external influence, while the much simpler alternative of "make tik tok american owned instead" would, obv, benefit the US much more.
the pretend excuse of "we're protecting you and your children from Vine, no Digg, uh, no snapchat? oh it was instagram youtube shorts, thats right!" obviously doesnt work unless there's a complete 100% ban of all short-form-video-social-media platforms from the ground up. but that wouldnt work either because lmfao, even prohibition with alcohol didnt "work", cause these "solutions that work" simultaneously both increase public sector spending while decreasing the funding (tax payments), WHILE not removing demand at all (if not even increasing it) (see also: most of USA's war on drugs)
i wanna say, the clear cut best case choice is "make tik tok americanowned and leave it otherwise unchanged" for the american government, the chosen solution is worse than doing literally nothing and ignoring the problem all together.
