if anything the flood of retards influenced to flock to another chinese site on the threat of tiktok getting banned is just going to further convince the relevant people that banning it is the right move.

it doesn't matter if it's true or false

@sun
Nor could you provide cover for CIA, FBI, and NSA to psyop the Chinese any better.

On the other hand, what this tells me (if true) is that people are more afraid of being surveilled and censored by their own government than by the foreign governments which are claimed to be such an existential threat to them. Probably since there's far more clear and present evidence of the former being true than the latter.

@lebronjames75 this is one of those cases where just making it not be an app on ios and android, leaving it intact on web and smaller platforms, marginalizes it enough to "solve" the "problem"

@sun its, i think, the worst possible move from the PoV of the US government. wasted resources on what will effectively increase external influence, while the much simpler alternative of "make tik tok american owned instead" would, obv, benefit the US much more.
the pretend excuse of "we're protecting you and your children from Vine, no Digg, uh, no snapchat? oh it was instagram youtube shorts, thats right!" obviously doesnt work unless there's a complete 100% ban of all short-form-video-social-media platforms from the ground up. but that wouldnt work either because lmfao, even prohibition with alcohol didnt "work", cause these "solutions that work" simultaneously both increase public sector spending while decreasing the funding (tax payments), WHILE not removing demand at all (if not even increasing it) (see also: most of USA's war on drugs)
i wanna say, the clear cut best case choice is "make tik tok americanowned and leave it otherwise unchanged" for the american government, the chosen solution is worse than doing literally nothing and ignoring the problem all together.
