Backups of people's databases, sure, maybe. But it's endlessly mirrored. The original passwd file on the Bell Labs Unix system is still here.

You know, like when the FBI got kolektiva.social's DB because one of them got arrested and he had an unencrypted backup just laying around on his hard drive. (Fediblock can suck on *that*. :blackscienceman:)
Barring a catastrophe that destroys continuity of data forever, I think we're stuck with this data surviving.
