So in my mind I then associated the onset of adulthood with becoming a republican. So when I woke up on my 21st birthday I was shocked to find out that ... even though I could now legally do all the things I was still not an adult because i didn't become a republican overnight. And here we are, I'm 51 now, still not a republican... so I guess I haven't reached adulthood yet!
