The next level of gatekeepers are the banks and especially the internetbanks - Stripe and Paypal etc. It would be nice if you could give 1€ when you had watched a useful tutorial from a person you might never encounter again. But that would cost you 0.25€ in fee making it ridiculous. On Liberapay they have given up on micropayments and the same a lot of other places. Using electronic money should be paid for by the national banks. Right now you have to pay a toll everytime you use even 1€.
