I write to the ones that are writable, but hand out lots that are not. The usual conversation is, "Is there data on this?" "Could you read it if there was?" If the answer is yes, they get a disk from the other pocket. floppydisk.com sells working disks for $1 and not-working for $0.19. Until they're all gone forever.
