I don't think my employer is known for being on the high end of salaries but those are low. Looking at my employer's H1-B salaries some eng II are paid $30k less than some idiot citizens were a few years ago.

I think H1-B visas are a good thing but I can see why people might think it will hold back wage rises. Citizens won't factor in the cost of applying.
