@mushroom_soup @InceptionState @PunishedD @RustyCrab @ceo_of_monoeye_dating @sjw Computers are finite limited machines and they throw enough decimal places in by default that are good enough for most people and if you really need more and you know you need more for a certain extreme scientific high precision application you can throw more bits at the problem or resort to sorts of internal algebraic representations and massage your code in a certain way that's awareness of the limitations so it's less likely to break. The crazy mathematicians we talk about don't even consider or worry about the shit computer engineers do and consider themselves the gigachads of the STEM world and don't concern themselves with how their abstract platonic bullshit would be implemented or represented in a real machine.
