@jana @icedquinn @Jain @privateger Actually, 16bit ASNs have the same price as 32bit numbers.
Tho, technically, you can only request them if you have a valid reason for actually needing them. Like, you use some 50-year-old gear that doesn't support 32bit ASNs.
Or in other words, anyone who is seriously offering them now is doing some weird shady stuff, since there barely is any valid reason anymore why you really need them, especially as a private hobby ASN.
(Only applies within the RIPE region, ARIN is doing things a bit different)
What is more expensive is if you want to become a LIR yourself. That's 1k for the signup plus 1.8k/year as a membership fee at RIPE.
