If this is a WD SN770/SN770M SSD on the device, you need to edit the kernel boot arg to have: nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=0 otherwise the OS won’t find the SSD to install nor boot from it (I’ve tested Fedora and PopOS!). A dive into why this is needed and it’s a buggy firmware that WD is using, and needs to be added as a quirk fix. There are plenty of different SSDs that have been patched but it affects quite a few.
