if it is a giant pain in the ass to install and upgrade, then way less people will run a node.
a decentralized system needs as many nodes as it can get, for security robustness.
the ideal scenario is not everybody runs a node but everybody knows somebody who runs a node. not the entire network is made up of less than a couple hundred nodes run by businesses that are just trying to prop up the token with VC money
