It's slavery if you can't declare bankruptcy or live in a country that will put you in prison for debt.

Otherwise it's a combination of choices and circumstances. If there's a means to walk away from those circumstances, it's not slavery.

Being put in prison is literally slavery. Even if you're innocent and in prison, it's still slavery. Slavery does not account for circumstance.

Slavery is the extreme restriction of movement, and restriction of actions; usually but not always the force of labor.

When you call other bullshit slavery, it just builds false victimhood narratives.
