You know my position and where I put years of effort.

There's a sad reality where the commons is now in a bad position to fend off a corporate takeover of fedi.

But uptake on BS/ATProto may see corporate interest go there instead, and give some air to AS/AP fedi to mature & evolve more towards its full potential (which is well beyond a Microbloggoverse).

Huge fly in the ointment is freaking Meta, positioned to pounce with an EE(E) whenever they choose to.
