@Sollenbum actually I wouldn't have minded if Jinghe sacrificed some of his life to create the antidote that could save Meilin. He tried but it failed - apparently they cut out the scene to explain that the whole experiment affected his health, which is why he was in such bad shape during the palace attack. I think in the end it shortened his life. To me it would've been better if they got this route only cos I want them to have some kind of happiness in the end 😭
