Just finished “Kill Me Love Me” 🌸 This is such a good drama! The ending was delicately done with sweetness + sadness interwoven in a way that resonates. The standout performance is Liu Xueyi, who gives his character depth and humility but so many of the other actors had roles that allowed them to give nuance to both their roles + the drama.
Can definitely recommend!

@Sollenbum oh wow thank God you liked the ending. I was waiting for your massive anger and disappointment 🤣. I was upset it wasn't a total happy ending at first but in the end, it felt like a realistic ending that was also happy. Bittersweet, and how life is like.

@Sollenbum actually I wouldn't have minded if Jinghe sacrificed some of his life to create the antidote that could save Meilin. He tried but it failed - apparently they cut out the scene to explain that the whole experiment affected his health, which is why he was in such bad shape during the palace attack. I think in the end it shortened his life. To me it would've been better if they got this route only cos I want them to have some kind of happiness in the end 😭

@liztai I actually surprised that you liked the drama. I’m actually OK with sad endings if they are earned. I didn’t even mind the way Pearl Eclipse ended 😄
It would have been all wrong if they had suddenly found another antidote and they lived happily ever after. On reflection, I think a major theme is the personal price that is paid for political power. The emperor loses Zigu, Murong Xuanlie loses both his love and life, Yue Qin loses his love and his sister …

@Sollenbum actually that's a good point! I wondered wth was up with these deaths, but this theme ties it up nicely. Jinghe could've chosen a more peaceful path, but he chose to use people and to pursue vengeance. It comes with a price. I my head that alt reality is where their souls finally rested, and that's my interpretation and hill I will die on lol
