The natural power of the Elves, Maiar and Valar therefore is deemed “magic” to mortals because mortals are entirely unfamiliar with the nature of the supernatural.
Thus, what Sauron is doing is rightfully called ”magic”, precisely because it is genuinely unnatural due to its evil.
