Diffuse gases aren't an issue, but concentrates could be. Natural plant matter decays slower vs animal digestion (dilution via atmosphere). Ruminators can't fully break down methane so they release it. Methane is, in the lab, a bigger concern by orders of magnitude than CO2. If they can make cows not fart methane, it will mean less smelly manure if nothing else, and potentially create a better fertilizer in the process. If seaweed powder is all it takes, that's great.
