@sun dont quote me on this but i think europeans think rights like that are granted by the government and can be withdrawn at leisure

(contrast with the notion of god-given rights the US constitution acknowledges)

though the concept is imo on shaky foundations and europeans ought to have notions of inalienable rights, they probably functionally think in terms of rights granted by the government
