Ha, mostly it was just the easiest way to expose a local service. It's just running on my desktop machine.

Yeah, basically when it's going at a reasonable speed, the log output is an actual bottleneck. So, you can see the messages are prefixed with single characters, and the debug spew at the bottom represents the corresponding messages, it's something like 1/127th or something like that.
