I think basic vetting of hardware is reasonable; I think you should not put a computer that catches fire into the datacenter next to other people's computers.

It is a room full of computers and networking equipment. This is not ever going to go away, even if you run fiber and install backup generators and cooling systems in everyone's house. I had a fan die because the machine was on the floor by the TV, and the fan jammed up with cat/dog/human hair. I can't dedicate a room to have 10% humidity and raised flooring in my house, you know?
