@rysiek the fundamental architecture of the fediverse makes many types of expected moderation extremely hard or even impossible. any attempt to try to transmit this fact to these people is rejected by them as 'splaining or saying racism is acceptable. Well it's not, it's about education and managing people's expectations. things could be a lot better but this network is simply never going to meet expectations of people in many of these outrage threads. The inescapable fact is that they would be only be happier on different social networks than this one.

Does this mean that the Fediverse is a lost cause?






Yes.

The Fediverse simply isn't capable of meeting moderation expectations of many reasonable people, not in practice today, and not even in theory.

Attention should migrate to something new, with moderation as the top design concern. The Fediverse DOES NOT SERVE groups that are targets of extreme harassment.
