Maybe in the EU it is “boring old stuff” and “everybody learns in school”, centralization and shared history and all.
But the world is not the EU.

When it comes to the EU (the Union and the “continent”), the focus is primarily about World War II, the Eastern Roman Empire, Roman Empire, and Greek Empire. That's basically about it.
Pardon us, or me, for having an expectation to see the past and culture presented in a modern and grand way. Nothing wrong with their modern choice, we just had a preference over the “boring old stuff everybody learns in school” in the EU. ^_~
