@feld @kaia @lain I don't want to get caught up on wording. I don't mind people from different places and I don't mind them bringing aspects of their culture with them and them retaining aspects of their culture but it should be in the context of being fully integrated into one society, and the society should be strict about what it doesn't want e.g. if you know Pakistani cousin-marriage is a huge problem then you can be strict about who you let in from Pakistan. It's not about national origin, nothing saying no Pakistanis but you can be selective about entry and not import brand-new foreign problems, it's literally that simple.
