Some tribes were nomads, but thd trail of tears tribes (look up the "five tribes" if you're curious) were settled all over the south. They were not prepared with goods for that kind of march. Most were not slave holders, just as withany body living in the south, but the wealthy Choctaw and Cherokee were for sure, the landowners had been farmers for awhile.
