I tried to transition 22 years ago, but without non-binary identities existing in culture, I couldn't get even the basics of support, and patched back up the cracks in my egg. I spent about 20 years seeing it as a sacrifice I made to build a good life for me and my partner. Then, at 40, I realized that noble sacrifice now felt like punishing regret, that my youth was nearing its end, and there was a femme inside me screaming at me for her neglect. So, yeah.
