In all seriousness, some people have this desire to be liked by others. Sometimes that's just not going to happen.

My wife's dad is cool. A laid back spaniard, but her mom is nuts, which is why her mom and dad are divorced.

Her mom used to try to do anything to "be my buddy," but I just found her whole persona needy af, and just rebuffed every advance. Now she won't even come to our house for family gatherings because everyone else in the family, including my parents, siblings, etc are "right wing extremists." So be it. We're actually happier without her.
