You can talk to them as a line level worker who cares enough to politely and succinctly explain the issue, and they tell you to piss off. Totally floored me, and I immediately started looking elsewhere. Today, I would approach it differently by literally writing a proposal for solutions including a section with alternatives and why I opted to suggest the other one, and then mail the thing to the stakeholder. I figure if it's important enough to affect morale, it's important enough to go up the chain. The alternative is I'd leave anyway, might as well go for the proverbial Hail Mary.
