I did devops for ~3 years and glad I went out and am back in development. It wasn't that bad for me on devops; the whole team was competent and people could take vacations without worry. I once got an on-call alert on Thanksgiving, but thankfully we all got on a call and figured it out in under an hour.

I got a few major things merged in last week and am off the next few days; with no way of getting any calls or alerts.
