That's because punk hacker culture died in the late 90's, early 2000s after being supplanted by corporatists.

The "infosec community" now means people with multi-colored hair and a variety of mental illnesses who read Firewall WAF logs.

If you look back at early conferences and groups, there actually *was* a hacker community, unlike how the "community" term is thrown around: "the gay community", "the black community", etc.
