@icedquinn @evelyn @lucy unnecessary certification is actually something I have professional experience with (can't elaborate), there's tons of it here but it mostly exists for jobs that people could run out of their house to prevent brick and mortar stores from having to compete with anybody starting a hair braiding business in their basement by adding a cosmetology hygiene certification requirement. effectively keeping out poor black women. almost all certifications are at least 90% bullshit but for some professions they are unintuitive but good. doing nails sounds easy but you can sicken a ton of people at once if you don't follow an equipment cleaning regimen. Same with doing hair and to some extent makeup. So I can't dispense with the idea completely.
