Electric has the interesting added cost in reas which use tiered pricing per KWH for peak, off-peak, and metered usage. I wouldn't be surprised if net electrical cost goes up dramatically for a lot of people who go full electric. Hybrid seems to make more sense to me; why not get more mpg and have a bit more power in the process? If they can pair those with better (non-cvt) transmissions, they'll be able to squeeze even more mpg out.
