The thing missing in that exchange is that there are different classes of stocks. One class of stock is available to laymen, another class is available for richer, more serious investors.
Depending on the type of stock, the investor y'all are talking about might be qualified as an official stockholder who therefore can influence the company. Could be the case here; but to get your way you would have to influence other stockholders. 15% is not enough stock to control a company.
