There are probably a number of people in your country who want the war to end. Suspending elections means those people have no democratic agency.

I work with a Ukrainian remotely who says he's afraid of getting picked up and conscripted. Are you telling me conscription of men isn't happening?

If you're in the middle of a bad situation, you're more likely to never "wake up" because you're knee deep in the sunk cost fallacy. Same with people who got the vaccine and say all heart problems aren't from the shot. Or parents of trans kids who've given those children terrible drugs. They can't admit they made a mistake. You may still believe in your nation, but a lot of others have fled (including another co-worker of mine who took her family to Portugal when the war broke out).

I'm sorry friend. I hope your nation makes a peace deal soon. I hope you're alright. But from out here, it doesn't look like you're in a democracy. It looks like the world has shifted its collective focus to Israel killing some brown people so they can take a gas field.
