I use these downturn periods where a job hop is a bad move to just acquire a bunch of "skills." Oh, I hit the OpenAI API to automatically generate article summaries for the company website? I now have 5 years of experience with generative AI, retroactively. I also got one of those bullshit certifications for AI/ML from CalTech and IBM, which sounds super official until you realize you can just watch YouTube videos for the same information. But it's now on my resume forever.
"Generative AI" in this decade is like "Big Data" last decade. It's legitimately the future but it's also going to be absolutely inundated with grifters, and I intend to cash in as much as I can get away with. Might take a year or two for an upswing, tho
