- Embed this notice@larsfrommars as I understand it, a lot of the accusations of her being a terf come from some really specious reasoning about how the fact that Federici has dared to critique the Butlerian line of feminist thought means that she must be a terf, and I strongly resent that accusation. not to do a "speaking as an X" as if that can substitute for reading a text critically... but speaking as I guess something of a transfeminist theorist person (lol), I've been influenced far more by materialist and Marxist feminism (alongside cyberfem and xenofem which imo are related tendencies) and felt like they spoke more to my self-interests and my experiences than any performance-based Butlerian theories. I don't wanna completely throw out Butler but I think her ideas pretty much inherently lend themselves to feminism being recuperated by libfem, because theories of performance and representation reduce all of the material realities of gender stuff down to being semiotic games. it just doesn't sit right with me from a Deleuzian perspective either.
but idk I'm eepy and barely managing to put together a coherent post. I just extremely dislike the implication from the people who have accused her of being a terf that being critical of Butler means being anti-trans. Butler does not speak for me at all. fuck her, in fact.
