You are always being tracked, yes, but that doesn’t mean you can’t minimize the amount of data gathered. It takes some work. I…
- Run my own e-mail
- Removed Google services from my phone
- Self host Cryptpad (replaces google docs), Radicale (replaced Google calendar/contacts), etc.
- Deleted most of my big tech social media
- Run uBlock Origin
- Use LibreWolf (the privacy aware fork of Firefox)
- Run local copies of Nitter, Libreddit, Searx and other services for privacy (and use Privacy Redirect in my browser to automatically redirect to them)
Yes a lot of stuff is still going to leak out. I do need to get around to blocking trackers at the router level too. But I’ve probably cut my trackable content by at least half. It’s a lot of work, but it’s worth it.
The majority of people:
- Pay for a VPN service
(Because the YouTube ads convince them it ensures privacy ?)
