@icedquinn @wolf480pl @dragoonaethis I think you could have something meh as an adapter a bit like wine would do for windows stuff, but with the clear idea that you can do a migration to a better one.

This was not done, the systemd adapters where for compatibility with legacy systems, like apulse is, not something like pipewire.
