Vivek came out of nowhere and did damn good in the primaries.
When you consider trumps no new wars and the general positive outcomes of his presidency, why would you put the rookie in? Trump is still in the game with clearly biased refs. It's not like that bias goes away if you put the rookie in.
It's about having a deep bench with experience. Vivek has all the potential in front of him.
