@funbaker @ErikUden that might be. Let me introduce you to the technology what currently is used to prevent spam waves like that. There is something called MRF which allows Admins of pleroma/akkoma to define filters on incoming/outgoing posts.
Patches for misskey & forks do exist.
In the past Gragron spoke out against something like this without proper arguments even tho he got warned and he is aware of the situation.
That was some time ago and now i would like that he re-evaluates the situation so therefore i opened up an issue on github:
