May make sense for gaming, but movies really went astray. You aren't following a story. With Marvel and crap you're just a spectator watching spectacle. Not always, mind you. There's still the oddball "Parasite" from the far east, but that's a kind of story telling Hollywood lost and all in all it's even less expensive to do nowadays. At least in production. Eats time for the script, though...
