@WashedOutGundamPilot @Boomerman @Shadowman311 @sickburnbro I've seen some companies add their own external stabilization/rigidity to otherwise flimsy connectors.
Not too long ago I got some inline magnetic USB-C couplers and long heavy USB-C cables which showed some problems with my setup, but even plugging things in directly, the forces on the port get a bit scary and I have a few cables where the male end has a visible bend on it from cable sag. A bit of plastic holding it firmer in place sounds like a good preventative measure, and even better if it adds some secure locking with a screw or something that can wear and tear and be easily replaced separately to the hideously expensive active cable and the questionably replaceable internal port.
