Uncle Sam demands his 40 hours a week, but every action has a reaction so he'll pay you for working over. My wage was defined by my annual salary divided by 2080 hours. At first I earned time-and-a-half overtime, then by the time I left NASA I had risen enough in the GS scale that my overtime was just straight time. Better than nothing!
