Indeed, I was on a quest to find the oldest machine I could still have a functional digital life on, and I'd done some cocktail napkin sketching to conclude that crypto was the bottleneck and that something 32-bit at 100MHz was likely what I'd need. For non x86, I'd been looking at a NeXT or an old Sun or SGI workstation.
