    @maddiefuzz @colin_mcmillen I'd never timed it, but I'd believe your estimate. Serious 32-bit math on an 8-bit accumulator architecture doesn't come easy. I'd held out a little hope on the iigs, given it's 16-bit and had accelerators available, but I think the only way this would ever work is the crypto done in hardware.

    I did consider a general purpose socket proxy, too, but just kinda lost steam. Really happy to see someone keeping the green phosphors burning!

      @colin_mcmillen @maddiefuzz This is a truly fascinating resource to have. Indeed, I was on a quest to find the oldest machine I could still have a functional digital life on, and I'd done some cocktail napkin sketching to conclude that crypto was the bottleneck and that something 32-bit at 100MHz was likely what I'd need. For non x86, I'd been looking at a NeXT or an old Sun or SGI workstation.
