@nugger @WandererUber @skylar This is the Dr. Gadget vision of technology and as a guy who has sat in VCs drunk listening to linuxoids ramble about AMD vs NIVIDIA for three hours I can tell you they are as much specialist/division of labor enjoyers as any windows user, just a different breed that cares much more about the technology and gets much better results.
The town blacksmith still needs the mines to produce ore and process it and both of them need the merchants to bring it to a fro profitably. There’s no being a nation or economic system of one. At least not without fully retreating to the woods and doing irl Minecraft; hitting trees with your palm and carving them with your teeth. And then if you got things going, what would you build? On a long enough timeline, you would build civilization.
